SSN Verification

A Social Security Number (SSN) is a nine-digit number issued to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and temporary (working) residents under section 205(c) (2) of the Social Security Act.

The number is issued to an individual by the Social Security Administration, an independent agency of the United States government. Although its primary purpose is to track individuals for Social Security purposes, the Social Security number has become a de facto national identification number for taxation and other purposes.

SSN Verification Report information may include, but is not limited to, current and former address history, the applicant's age and/or date of birth, and the applicant's county of residence. The SSN check provides vital information for revealing an applicant's possible criminal record.

Why do you need SSN Verification?

When you hire someone, you want to be certain about his or her identity. Unfortunately we live in an age in which identity theft is widespread and is happening at an alarming rate. Verification of an applicant's identity is a fairly simple step that will help ease concerns of a misappropriated, mistaken, or outright stolen identity.

SSN Verification can help to provide you with information you can use to be more confident about who exactly it is you are hiring and whether your applicant is being honest with the most basic of personal information. A candidate may be misleading you by misrepresenting his or her identity and this could result in a potential nightmare for the employer.

The SSN check reports the applicant's name related to the provided Social Security number as reported by the Social Security Administration and the three credit bureaus. The most principal search you should perform when conducting a background check is a Social Security Number (SSN) check. An identity check can also be a foundational part of a more comprehensive background check, providing essential information needed to move forward with more extensive searches.
